Our Handyperson Service involves one of our volunteers making pre-arranged visits to the homes of people to carry out a small, non-emergency, DIY-type task. We do not charge for labour.
In a recent community research project, one of the questions related to services. Coming top of the list for the people responding in this research was a handyperson service. LDVG have used a grant from Awards for All Scotland programme to set up this helpful service.
This has proved to be very popular in our community. Some people we have helped have said:
“I only needed light bulbs changed but there was no way I could safely reach them myself. This service helped me a lot.”
“I live alone and am quite active but when it came to putting up a shelf in the kitchen, I needed help. The volunteer group arranged for someone to do the work and I’m very grateful to them for that.”
